George W. Greene Jr.
Greene, George W., Jr. The Honorable Entered Eternal Life on Sunday,
November 26, 2006 at the age of 68. Resident of Fox Point. Devoted husband
of late Suzanne Greene (nee Selover). Loving father of Alison (Jim) Forkey,
Robert (Jenna) Greene and Andrew (Kimberly) Greene. Dear brother of Michael
(Nancy) Greene. Grandfather of Andrew, Robby and Elizabeth Forkey; Bobby,
Timmy and Billy Greene, and Henry Greene.
George was born and raised in Minneapolis where he graduated from Washburn
High School in 1956. He was a proud graduate of the University of Minnesota
where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. After his undergraduate
studies, George earned a law degree in 1965 from the University of Minnesota.
He moved to Milwaukee that same year to begin a 28-year career in private
practice. He started with the law firm Wickham, Borgelt, Skogstad &
Powell and later joined Quale, Feldbruegge, Calvelli, Thom & Croke.
In 1993 he was appointed to the Milwaukee County Circuit Court bench by
Governor Tommy G. Thompson. In 1994 he was appointed as a county court
commissoner, a position he held until his death. George's professional
career was complemented by his deep commitment to his family and community.
He was a co-founder of The Gathering, an inner city meal program where
he combined a love of cooking with his compassion for the needy. He served
as a board member with Rogers Memorial Hospital and was heavily involved
in the St. Christopher's Episcopal Parish. More than anything, he loved
spending time with his family and seven grandchildren. He will be sorely
missed by those who knew and loved him.
The family will greet friends on Thursday, November 30 at St. Christopher's
Episcopal Church, 7845 N. River Hills, WI 53217 (1 mile north of Good
Hope Rd.) from 2:30 PM until the time of the Memorial Service at 4:00
