John B. Rachie
John B. Rachie passed away at his home in Forest Lake on May 12
at the age of 70 after a brave battle with an atypical form of Parkinson's Disease.
John enjoyed a 47- year marriage to his loving spouse, Marlene Marie. He was a wonderful father, father-in-law and grandfather
to his two sons, Paul and David and their families: Paul, Catherine Thimmesh, Jaimie (12)
and Simon (10); and David, Kimberly, Julianna (8), Angelina (6), John (3) and expected
granddaughter, Alexandra; and a loving brother to his sister, Beth.
John's parents, Cyrus and Helen Rachie and his sister, Janice, have previously passed away, all of whom he loved very much.
John attended the University of Minnesota where he was a member of SAE
and served on the Union Board of Governors. He earned his undergraduate
degree in philosophy and went on to earn his Juris Doctorate degree. John
had a successful and satisfying law practice in downtown Minneapolis for
many years.
More importantly for John, he was happiest at home on Forest Lake with
his family and friends, his philosophy books and nature. It was the lake
he first came to at age nine with his parents and sisters where they spent
their summers at the family cabin. He loved the lake so much that he moved
his own young family into a home on that same lake in 1967, where he spent
the next 41 years, including the final peaceful days of his blessed life.
He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Services will
be held on Friday morning at Roberts Family Funeral Home: 555 Centennial Drive
S.W., Forest Lake, Minnesota. Visitation at 10:00 / Service at 10:30 / Lunch to
follow. There will be a private burial at Lakewood Cemetery. Memorials
preferred.
